Skateboard Ollie Fail: The Yellow Kerb That Fought Back

This is why they were telling me to be careful.

This was the yellow kerb I tried to ollie over.

Haha!

Nothing gets the blood pumping faster than taking a slam. As long as you didn’t die, you’re usually ready to go again.

I only posted this clip because I loved how the board took off, went straight for my tripod, and somehow turned the camera to keep me in frame. A little more force and it would’ve dropped — phone smashed, content over.

This is exactly why it’s necessary, and strongly advisable, to wear a skateboard helmet and pads. Falls happen fast, and sometimes things go wrong in ways you don’t expect.

Warm up.
Practice.
Work your way up to bigger and scarier obstacles.

I’ll be coming back to this kerb again. I just want to build a bit more confidence first and land a few ollies at full speed before I challenge it again.

Skateboarding isn’t about rushing progress — it’s about showing up, learning from slams, and trying again smarter.
